The alumni registration form has been disabled because it is being used for spam. Also, there's not much point in registering new members as this site will be going away in the very near future.
The 30 year reunion has come and gone. Check this site periodically for information on future events.
For the latest information on the 30 year reunion, please check the top of the main page.
Williamsville South Class of 1980 graduates - Our next reunion is scheduled for Saturday, July 17th, 2010, at our Class President Lou Nuchereno's house in Williamsville. Details to follow later this year. Old Home Days is July 13 - 16th, 2010. Mark your calendars (if you have one that goes that far out!) and pass the word.
I've taken the BBS out of service, as it never took off as I hoped it would and it's become yet another haven for Spam (I just deleted over 130 Spam accounts). If you would like it restored, it's still there, please send an email message to and I'll consider it.
I've added a link for the Williamsville High School Class of 1969 reunion, which will be held on July 11, 2009. If you know of any alumni from that year, please let them know about it. Also, please note that ReunionPosts.org has a page for Williamsville South Reunions.
I've reorganized a bit, putting all the pages that require registration under a new area named "Members Only". I also moved the Alumni Info list to this password-protected area, because I've become increasingly worried about spammers harvesting the email addresses found on that list, and more sensitive to people who wish to keep such information private. I've also edited most of the text on the main page.
The web site has been moved to a new host, and a lot of work has been done on the pages, as you may have already noticed. There's not much new content, but they are now written using modern XHTML 1.1 and CSS standards, many stale links have been hunted down and corrected, and hopefully this site looks a bit more modern. I hope you like the changes.
I've added a link to the excellent Class of 1996 web site. If you know of anyone who is from that class, please direct them to this site.
25 Year Reunion T-Shirts are available from Dave Whalen; if you are interested, go to this page for details.
It took me way too long to get these online, but here are a whole lot of reunion pictures from Holly Smith (Schiferle). Enjoy!
The first set of pictures from the 25 year reunion has arrived, courtesy of Phil Jones. Keep checking this page for more pictures as they come in!
Well, it's now one week until the reunion. I hope that many of you are able to attend, and that everyone will have a great time. Send pictures to and I'll be happy to post them in the alumni area of the web site (personal note: as I probably won't be able to attend, I'd enjoy seeing some photos).
For you out-of-towners, the weather has been unseasonably hot and dry, with more 90+ degree days than we've seen in years. Dress comfortably!
The Canal Fest of the Tonawandas starts on Sunday the 17th, so if you're still in town you might want to check that out. For other ideas of things to do around the area, I humbly suggest you check my Buffalo Info web page.
Invitations to the reunion have been mailed. If you did not receive one, click here to view a copy (there's important information on it). You can RSVP by sending an email message to .
Over in the BBS, we've posted a list of people for whom we need information in the "25 Year Reunion" area. We really appreciate any and all help in tracking down these folks, and you have our thanks in advance for your assistance! You can also find the list of people here; just use the regular South '80 username and password to view it.
We've also started a poll on the BBS to get an idea as to who's attending and who's not. Registering is fast and easy (don't let the initial legal language be intimidating), and if you have any questions about how to use the BBS, feel free to send email to , who will gladly answer any and all questions, and who understands that if you've never used a BBS before, it can be confusing.
On Friday, July 15th, in the evening, we will meet under the Old Home Days tent at Island Park in beautiful downtown Williamsville. On Saturday, July 16th, there will be a tour of the school at 2:00 PM, and at 7:00 PM there will be a get-together at the Audubon Grill & Cafe (at the Amherst Audubon Golf Course).
Please check your alumni information in the "Alumni Info" area and make sure we have your current postal address and email address so that we can contact you with additional information. Also, a new Alumni BBS has been created, where you can discuss your plans for the 25-year reunion or whatever else you feel like talking about. I have high hopes that this BBS is friendlier and faster than the previous message board, and hope that our alumni will register and start using it.
By the way, the current business class at South is working on selling engraved "legacy bricks" for $25.00. For more information, please refer to this BBS posting.

Believe it or not, this web site is still alive, there just hasn't been a lot to say until now. As you can see from the "News Flash" above, a 2005 reunion is in the planning stages, and information will be added here as it becomes available. As for the web site, I'm debating some changes, as I haven't put any work into it in way too long. At the very least, I will soon be checking all the links and other information, to make sure that what's here is accurate.
Name lists for Mrs. Granger's fourth grade class and Mrs. Palmer's fifth grade class are now available on the Academy '73 sub-site. Kudos to Jonathan Dryden for this information, and, as always, if anyone can fill in the gaps it would be greatly appreciated.
I broke the program that processes new alumni during an upgrade several months ago. If you found that you could not register, please try it again. Sorry about that.
On the Academy page, there are now pictures of Mrs. Granger's fourth grade class and Mrs. Palmer's fifth grade class. Captions will be added soon.
Well, after an extended break, I'm ready to start working on this site again. One of the first things I can offer is a link to an online version of a wonderful book, A HISTORY of the TOWN of AMHERST, NEW YORK by Sue Miller Young. This book was originally published in 1965, and is out of print, as far as I can tell (I'm lucky enough to own a copy, courtesy of my parents). Thanks go out to of Ed Young's True Value for making me aware of this fine resource.
Added new links for PalmPilot Bills and Sabres schedules (links courtesy of Bob Marchese), and for Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
If you're looking for reunion info from other classes, the official Williamsville-Amherst Old Home Days web site has a reunion information page. They currently have information on reunions for the South classes of 1961, 1981, and 1991.
For lack of other news, I thought I'd remind everyone that this is the centennial anniversary of the 1901 Pan-American Exposition, held in Buffalo way back in 1901. While it's most (in)famous for being the site of the assassination of President McKinley, it was also a fabulous affair, and a reminder of why Buffalo used to have the nickname "The City of Light."
The Buffalo News had a nice article about girls basketball in tonight's edition, featuring our former Phys. Ed. and Health teacher, Mrs. Julie McCullough. Click here for a 357K scan of the article if the above link is no longer valid.
The Buffalo News reprinted an article about visiting Buffalo from the February 4, 2001, edition of The Baltimore Sun. The article was generally positive, although I disagree with her opinion of sponge candy, which has become a minor research project of mine. :-)
USA Today has a really nice article about Buffalo in their online edition. It makes me feel good about living here! ;-)
The overLIB JavaScript library, which puts those cool hovering captions on the aerial picture, was updated from version 3.10 to version 3.33. I didn't realize that the previous version didn't work with Netscape 6; my bad ...
Added a quick index to the alumni listings, and people who have added or updated their info in the last seven days are shown in bold.
Cynthia Viveiros contributed reunion pictures. here's a shortcut to them.
Added some pictures of Williamsville to the "Distractions" area.
Found a copy of our commencement program and scanned it.
Added a link for the Williamsville Business Association home page, which has some nice stuff on it.
Jonathan Dryden has contributed another nostalgia picture, which are always fun to look at. Also, we now have a "Buffalo Humor" section under the "Distractions" area, and are looking for contributions.
Tammy Capozzi has contributed 86 pictures from the 20-year reunion; here's a shortcut to them.
The "Trivia Quiz" menu option has been replaced with a new option, "Distractions", which consolidates the trivia quiz, the aerial photo, and a new page containing nostalgia.
I'm back. Looks like the web site was just fine on auto-pilot. BTW, we went to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan; if you haven't gone there, it's worth the trip.
Please note that I won't be able to make any changes to the web site between Sunday, August 20, and Friday, August 25; I also won't be able to respond to personal e-mail or e-mail to any of the "@south80.org" addresses. New member forms will be processed nightly via an automated script I've written, but I don't know if it will be 100% reliable (I hope it will). Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Terry Kreuz wants folks to know that if they want a reunion book they can get one by contacting him at . The cost to print and mail one is $3.00.
The first pictures from the 20-year reunion are online! If you have some pictures to add to the collection, please send them either electronically to , or via U.S. Mail, FedEx, or whatever service you choose (contact me via the e-mail address shown here; I'll send you my home address where you can mail them. I'll scan them in and mail them back to you promptly). Thanks!
Welcome to our new web site! We are open to any and all suggestions concerning the content, layout, or other features of this site. We hope you enjoy it, and that you find it a useful resource.
